STATE PRIZE 1992
In 1992, the Bavarian State Prize for Young Designers contest was modified for the first time since its launch. This modification is expected to enhance the quality of the works submitted to the contest. In addition, from now on works can be entered for the Bavarian State Prize for Young Designers in the textile design category.
The amount of prize money was increased significantly – to 15,000 German Marks. Even though the winners are free to use their prize money as they choose, I would be very pleased if they were to spend it on further training, enhancing their personal prospects and career opportunities, or maybe even on studying abroad. Our domestic economy is in dire need of designers with experience gained abroad who are able to combine down-to-earth design and international trends in their works. By receiving further training, they can enhance their positioning in the increasingly competitive design environment.
